I read an article about the artist for the Calvin and Hobbs comic strips, Bill Watterson. He mentioned that he was doing the comics as a daily life review but added in a character Hobbs, the stuffed tiger doll, for another character who was a friend who always stood beside him.
When artists look at other's works sometimes we have the thought "How in the world do they think of this stuff?"
When Watterson is asked this question his reply is he takes it from things he experiences and watches currently and traumatic moments. Not only situations he was put in but ones he has heard about and seen.
Sometimes Watterson says he cannot think of anything and is stuck on one project for days.
He keeps a book handy with him to write down any inspirational scenes or sayings that would help for later topics. Watterson says his technique most of the time was to sit down at his desk, pencil in hand, and stare at the paper until an idea comes to him.
I find when I want to draw but cannot find an idea a very difficult and annoying situation so reading that professionals also have problems with that comforts me. Hopefully it comforts others too.

LotR Truth?
As a fan of the movie trilogy Lord of the Rings I decided to think about the "history" and facts behind the movies and books.

This is the link to the video I was looking at to make me think about this subject.
The story it self was not the only thing that made me attracted to this video. What I saw in the video and study was that story took place in middle earth, fiction, and yet had so many references to real life and current times, as strange as it may seem.
Everything we think of is based off of things we seen, heard, and experienced. Through history we can see many people are influenced by others and our surroundings. The "ring" is probably representing the personality of addiction, influence, and change.
The mixing of the history and mythology always pulled me because it was something that I always thought was a story but since it already happened it is somewhat true.
There is a lesson in the back story of greed and obsession over things that bring about negative things. People are changed through these influences.
When it comes to my art I would like to show more of a human personality.
When the ring comes into the world it spreads and leads a trail which I see us having the same situation in our world. Even in a place called the "Shire" in the books, a peaceful and calm place is still influenced.
But I also like how in this story there is the character who is "not the hero type". I feel attracted to this character because he gives off a vibe as if he was a real person.
Subconsciously people do not think they are as special as a valiant hero in stories. The connections to history, the realism in personality and the placement was always something I liked in these books and in some art.

Free Time slow Time
I found that when I was younger I saw the world in a different perspective. I watched some sort of history channel show and they spoke about how the brain can see things in slow motion before recording and recording what has actually gone by. I start thinking what if everything in the world is actually going at a faster rate than we see it as?
The reason I brought this up is because I started thinking if people had the ability to move slower or faster as they pleased in response to their brain's functions how would we develop in our time with our art? Personally I think that art needs time to develop and have a process of thought.
Many have noticed and said before that when your are having fun you tend to lose track of the time and it seems to be moving faster than usual. As a kid you think time moves fast but subconsciously we think we will be like that silly small little toddler forever. But as we grow older we think there is never enough time for all the things we have to do.
Is it because we have so much more to do when we are older we think time is not enough? or is it like the show said and we are actually processing things faster than we did before.Don't you think time moves slower when you were a kid. But then suddenly time just switches and skips your life to this moment where you are reading this post?
I remember as I kept watching this show they started talking about if you start pointing things out to others, those people are starting to notice their actions.
For example (if this does not lose its touch over text) you start to notice the way you breathe, eventually you want to take a deep breath to satisfy your lungs.
You feel how your cloths are laid on top of your skin, if you move it rubs against your back and shoulders.
Hopefully that worked, if it didn't try it on a friend, making sure they keep eye contact, just to keep focus.

kick starting troubles?
When first having heard about begging for money I was a bit unsteady about the subject. After looking up ways to crowd source and look for money I have seen many stories on how almost automatically the money came flowing in like a river from the mountain of money!
Clicking onto a new link from the Stac world site and a few more clicks I found a story that started saying it was easy at first with crowd sourcing and having that kick start. Being the kind of person that I am , I do not like reading took much into things I have not fully grasped yet so I read on.
When reading through this article/site I found there are probably thousands of kick starters that get dropped and don't raise enough money. After realizing that, that only reveals that the people who are truly passionate and work the right work succeed in this form of advertisement.

Of course we aren't world wide to the point where wearing our old sneakers would be a decent prize to win after donating money but the site gives an idea of how we can possibly use our "talents" for advertisements. It is hard to explain through text because I cannot think of the words correctly at the moment. I don't particularly mean that we should "sell" ourselves but yes in a sense. Using the public's gossip to our advantage and promote "prizes" for the general public who donated.

Constantly updating them about our improvements or set backs (but not to the point where it would be those annoying pop-ups or junk mail that crowd). Everything should be edited and re edited in case of mistakes, with mistakes we will no be taken seriously.

Rocaterrania

I have been told that there are people who make "worlds" of their own for various reasons. Rocaterrania is a world that was made up by Renaldo Kuhler. The main reasons for making up this new world was for Kuhler to escape the realities of our own. I am not suggesting that is a bad thing, I am actually very interested on the idea of making new worlds as seen in my first "project" for Stac class.
Making a new, imaginary world was to help ignore the boring world Kuhler was born into.
The land of Rocaterrania was indeed a flawed place because it was not meant to be a utopia but still was good enough for Kuhler. As time went on Kuhler started to draw pictures of the land and develop on its history. Acting such as if it was a real place with people and buildings. The land was placed in between (or on the boarder of) Canada and the US. Which you will hear if you choose to watch the short clip that generally explains the Rocaterrania's birth.

I always found it interesting how people can imagine new civilizations from just the mind. Their ideas of how the people would look like and how they would act.

Heavy People
In this song I find that the meaning is more towards those who are a little different than the social community would deem "normal".

The Artist's Biography
Laura (Min) Yoon has been working in the art world for about 9 years. She was first influenced at an early age by an animator named Hayao Miazaki who was the director and part of the crew who animated the movies Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky. After being so inspired by the amazing world of animating, she drew in her classes whenever possible and where ever possible. Min always thought that even when getting in trouble it was worth getting in a drawing or two.When first starting out of course nothing came out very good but when ever Min liked how one came out then the accomplishment feel was the best to her. Unfortunately while growing up in a family of very talented artists, it becomes hard to be noticed for her own skill (or as much skill that she had at the time).
When entering middle school Min's confidence grew and she became entering contests for her art. She won a small competition that was held in only her school, just getting her name into the school newspaper along with three other people's.
Because she moved around a lot, Min never really got to build up history in art as much as some of her classmates.
What Min tried to do to solve this was setting up a page of her own that many artists that she knew and didn't know. There Min put up her "art" and hoped for the best. After some time Min decided to put up works that she was really interested in, graphic novels, telling stories through pictures and expressions.
Instead of taking classes that took time and money and required staying in one town, Min studied independently working on her comics (no matter how loner it sounded.
Entering high school Min didn't focus on her art as much as she wanted to because of other outside problems such as money and family issues. The art show in 2012 in Herricks High School was the first contests Min has entered since she entered high school. Having an honorable mention in her drawings Min gains a little more confidence in her art.Starting a new year Min is worried about the future and what it may hold for her. Originally she wanted to be a teacher or a veterinarian but when she started to focus on her art she claims she is not fit for those jobs seeing her grades and attitude. Although she would like to have a career in art she and her family know that the economic situations and possibilities it may give her.
Even though she is worried Min still wants to pursue her art further though she may not be successful it is something she loves and wants to do. She is hoping that she will have the opportunity to use her drawings and make them into a living.
